Bass Boost For The iPhone

The JBL OnBeat Xtreme was the best iPhone/iPad dock that we laid our hands on last year. This
year, the company has launched the OnBeat Rumble wireless speaker dock, aimed primarily at the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini with the lightning connector dock. Other devices can also hook up, but wirelessly.

JBL has launched a good MusicFlow app for you to play the files, but it is not a necessity. While the design of the Rumble is trendy, it is also minimalist. There are buttons for power, source, volume as well as Bass and Club modes. There are no navigation buttons on the device and this means to go up and down the playlist, especially when you are playing from a USB or using the Auxiliary port, there is just the remote.

Rumble uses HARMAN's TrueStream technology and this ensures a lossless playback while streaming music from a phone or tablet. We think you will be using the streaming more than the dock with this device. The sound is full and you wouldn't need to up the volume beyond 50 per cent if there is no party at home. If there is a party, you can up the volume and press the Bass and Club buttons to create the best atmosphere. This device is a bit partial to bass, but the down-firing subwoofer reduces distortion. We felt it does create a rumble at the higher volume levels. Though ideal for playing Shaggy's Boombastic, the Rumble is not found wanting with Jagjit Singh either.

BAG IT OR JUNK IT?
Good option for those with an iPhone 5, iPad Mini
