The rapid spread of Android OS in the recent past has made feature rich smart phones available in the market for a lesser price. Phones which are priced below Rs 15000 now have features like quad-core processors and high resolution cameras which were only available in high end smart phones sometime back. The sub Rs 15000 segment for Android phones is also the one where both global brands like Samsung and LG compete aggressively with the domestic brands like Xolo and Celkon. While the global brands offer phones with good build quality and after sales service, the domestic brands offer phones with more number of features for a cheaper price.
Below are the best Android phones in India under Rs 15000:
Micromax Canvas HD A116 (Rs 13,399)
The Micromax Canvas HD A116 is the good phone for people who are looking for a budget friendly yet performance oriented
phone. Canvas HD A116 has a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and a full 1 GB of RAM which makes it easy to run multiple apps without any lags. The phone also comes preloaded with the latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS which supports most of the latest apps available on the Play Store. A 5 inch HD LCD screen gives excellent viewing experience for watching movies and browsing the Internet. Canvas HD also looks very slim and stylish with curved edges and a thickness of 10.7 mm. The 8 megapixel primary camera can record HD videos, but the quality of the still images taken using it is a bit disappointing. Dual SIM support of the phone is another big draw for the younger customers.Xolo Q1000 (Rs 14,999)
Priced slightly higher than the Micromax Canvas HD A116, the Xolo Q1000 is another budget friendly smart phone with a quad core processor. The phone works smoothly while multitasking owing to its 1.2GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM. Xolo Q1000 runs on Android 4.2 and hence supports all the latest apps. Build quality of the phone is good and certainly better than the Micromax Canvas HD. But the rubberized matte finish seen on previous Xolo phones is absent which is a bit disappointing. A 5 inch HD IPS display shows vivid and sharp images. The 8 megapixel rear camera takes average quality pictures and is a big minus for the phone. Another issue with the Xolo Q1000 is its higher price as Xolo is positioned as a premium smart phone from a domestic manufacturer.
Lava Iris 504Q (Rs 13,499)
Lava Iris 504Q has all the features available in the above listed phones like a quad-core processor, latest version of Android OS, and a bigger 5 inch display. But, Iris 504Q differentiates itself from the others in the segment with it gesture controls. Users of the phone can control a few of the phone’s functions like snapping an image, changing the music track played, and moving to the next image in the gallery by just waving their hand. The phone’s front camera does the trick. The phone is super thin with a thickness of just 8.4 mm. Build quality of the phone is also good and a soft-touch matte finish to the phone’s rear panel gives good grip. Like the above listed phones from domestic manufacturers, a big minus for the phone is its primary camera which takes average quality pictures.
Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro GT-I8552 (Rs 15,800)
Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro marked Samsung’s reentry into the midrange smart phone market after a long gap. Galaxy Grand Quattro is one of the few budget smart phones from a premium brand like Samsung to come with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. The phone also has 1 GB of RAM which makes multitasking a breeze. Galaxy Grand Quattro has a premium finish and good build quality. A 4.7 inch has a good 480 x 800 pixels resolution and its multi-touch feature works smoothly. Even though the phone has a 5 megapixel camera, it gives better clarity than the higher resolution cameras seen in the above phones from domestic brands. The only negative point for the phone is its unattractive design. All in all, if you want a good smart phone in the Rs 15,000 price range from a global brand then the Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro should be your choice. Priced at Rs 15,800, it is not exactly priced below Rs 15,000. But the price will surely fall in the coming days.
LG Optimus L7 II P715 (Rs 14,990)
LG Optimus L7 II is the second version of the popular Otpimus L7. LG has brought lot of improvements to the new version which makes it a worthy contender in the budget Android phone segment. It now has a 1 GHz dual core processor and a higher 768 MB of RAM for improved performance. Design of the LG Optimus L7 II too can be rated as the best of this list. The minimalist yet classy design doesn’t make it look like a budget phone. The 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash too takes good quality pictures. Consider this phone if you want a unique and classy looking Android phone from a big global brand in a limited budget.
