Ponzi menace: Govt considering new law to plug regulatory gaps

Finance minister P. Chidambaram says the govt is trying to reduce the regulatory gaps to maximum possible extent

Rupee back at 59 level, gains 49 paise

The rupee on Wednesday climbed 49 paise to 59.65 against the dollar, the most since June 28, after the RBI and Sebi took steps to curb volatility, while banks and exporters sold the US currency which weakened overseas.

Gold, silver down for third day on sluggish demand

Both the precious metals, gold and silver, fell for the third straight session in the national capital today owing to slackened demand at prevailing higher levels amid a weak global trend.

Rupee depreciation may boost NRI investments in realty sector, say analysts

AAI to issue Rs 1,000 crore tax-free bonds to develop airports

NEW DELHI: Days after the government's move to construct 51 low-cost airports across the country, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has decided to issue tax-free bonds worth Rs 1,000 crore in the current financial year.
